Standard Outputs

For mass digitization, images are digitized at 300 dpi in colour (for paper originals) or greyscale (for microform originals) and saved as high-quality 300dpi JPEG images with an accompanying searchable PDF. Quality control is based on sampling digitized images for quality and completeness. Alternate formats or resolutions may be provided.

English images are auto-deskewed and OCRed. Uncorrected OCR output is included and used to create searchable PDF derivatives. Image and OCR quality is highly dependent on the nature and condition of the originals.

Deliverable media

Digital files are provided on a portable USB hard drive or memory stick, depending on total size. For digitization-only work, Bridge Intec does not retain copies of the digital images once they have been received and accepted by the client.

Custom Options

Bridge Intec can perform additional work, including metadata creation and correction, digitization to customized specifications and standards, enhanced verification or error correction, and specialized features. Nonstandard or oversized documents, maps, foldouts, photographs, archival materials, loose papers, and other materials may also qualify for custom pricing.

Please contact us to discuss items that do not fall under the standard scanning criteria, or that require alternate settings such as:

  • 400 dpi optical resolution
  • Black and white, greyscale, or colour TIFF output
  • Large format items (bigger than 11 x 14”)
  • Maps and foldouts
  • Individual artifacts or very small documents
  • Tight bindings or other difficult to scan materials

Preservation

Bridge Intec Digital Repository is a preservation system that ensures the long-term integrity and usability of the objects in its care. This means that Bridge Intec's infrastructure, policies and processes are all designed to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of deposited materials, including storing multiple redundant copies, regular verification and fixity checking, and migration processes to address issues such as file format obsolescence.

Partners wishing to preserve digitized content in the Digital Repository may enter into a depositor agreement with Bridge Intec to preserve and provide ongoing access to the digital content. Bridge Intec can also take already-digitized content and package it for ingest into theDigital Repository.

Costs

Fees for preservation and access are $1.00 per gigabyte of content stored in the TDR (based on 1 TB of storage with a 3-year preservation commitment), billed annually. The amount billed is based on the amount of content held at the start of the billing cycle. Requires supplying appropriate metadata, or hiringBridge Intec to create appropriate metadata.
